Wildlife
Mozambique has a range of different habitat types and an ecologically rich and diverse wildlife. This includes 236 species of mammal, of which 17 species are considered threatened, and 740 species of bird.
Wildlife includes big game like lions, cheetahs, elephants, leopards and rhinos as well as smaller animals like antelopes, zebras, hyenas and buffalo. Marine wildlife includes humpback whales, whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins, dugongs, turtles and many fish. New species are being discovered regularly, many of which are unique to the country.

Bazaruto Archipelago National Park
The Bazaruto Archipelago is a protected marine park and is a group of 6 islands with some wonderful beaches. The two largest islands are Bazaruto and Benguerra: a tropical paradise with white sandy beaches and some of the best scuba diving anywhere with its coral reefs and abundance of tropical fish.

Quirimbas Archipelago
The Quirimbas Archipelago is made up of 32 beautiful islands. It is known for its amazing volume of marine life which includes everything from turtles to whales and dolphins. The magnificent Quirimbas National Park offers the opportunity to explore a vast expanse of enchanted forest and white sand beaches.

Vilanculos
Large concentrations of wildlife occur here in the dry season, making the Amboseli National Park famous for its big game and its great scenic beauty: the landscape is dominated by the towering Mount Kilimanjaro. The Park embodies five main wildlife habitats (open plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush country, swamps and marshland).

Praia do Tofo
Tofo has fantastic spots for big fish diving. If you want to see mantas, whale sharks, various shark species, schooling Indian Ocean fish and more, this is the place to be in Mozambique.

Gorongosa National Park
This is the place to head to if you are interested in viewing wildlife on tripto Mozambique. It had some of the densest wildlife populations in the whole of Africa, but the numbers were drastically reduced by the civil war which affected the animal life. Today, lions, buffalo, wildebeest, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, zebra, impala, monkeys and baboons can all be found.

Niassa National Reserve
Niassa Reserve is the largest, wildest and most spectacular protected areas in Mozambique. The visitors can witness the real wildlife of amazing animals such as leopards, lions and hyenas among many others. It is connected to the Selous Game Reserve, in the southern Tanzania.
It is even possible to go for canoeing and boat safaris as well.
